Chamber Music - Ensemble
Founded in 2008 by clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, The Zimro Project is a unique ensemble dedicated to incorporating Jewish art music into chamber music programs. It is inspired by the Zimro Ensemble, a group active almost a century ago in St. Petersburg, Russia. The Zimro Project is comprised of a core group of artists who are accomplished soloists and chamber musicians, many of whom are members and former members of Chamber Music Society II of Lincoln Center and the Marlboro Music Festival. Artists for the Zimro project include: clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein, violinist/violist Lily Francis, cellist Nicholas Canellakis, and pianist Steven Beck.
Alexander Fiterstein, Giles Vonsattel and Nicholas Canellakis perform the Brahms Trio in A Minor as part of the Zimro Project on the March 26 edition of American Public Media's Performance Today.
